Kenyan Sarah Rimbui started her fashion accessories line Zumaridi Ornate in 2007 with a passion to create art pieces for wear. The name Zumaridi is a swahili word for "gems" and also specifically refers to Emeralds.
"I chose the name because emeralds have the most luscious green on this planet and represents the most beautiful of creations besides whatsmore fashionable than 'going green'?!The reason I went into the fashion accessories field is because I wanted my accessories as a woman to make me feel special. As a result, I got into the habit of making each piece different from the next. I source my material including beads of all types from right here in Nairobi."
She began to concentrate on earrings and never stopped.Sarah is also a career actor and seeks to make earrings that impress from the stage and behind a camera. Her creative juices spring up and use absolutely anything, including used electronic wires, and even light switches! As she puts it,"the world is my earring! I am inspired by color and sunny Nairobi weather which makes it possible to flaunt freely!"
Sarah hopes to collaborate with other designers to develop and showcase more interesting collections! Her current collection is called the JunkYard which she hopes to show soon.
