Today is Fashion Friday! I'll be detailing trends in the fashion industry or just products that I think look neat. I love Michael Kors. He's probably my favorite designer. I think he gets women and what makes a woman sophisticated. I love the colors he uses and the blends in materials. Here is my fave new MK items (secretly on my lottery wishlist!) I put them together to make an outfit, yay! (albeit it a very expensive one). A girl can dream can't she?

Hey Afropolitans! I'm starting this new weekly posting schedule that should help you find useful tips and interesting links from around the web. Today is the start of DIY Wednesday. I love looking for ways to make the things I love myself. Often times handmade products look so much more unique! That's why all the products at Afropolitan Shop are handmade.  I found this great necklace tutorial! I'm gonna try it out and post my results next week. 2012 has been an amazing year for The Afropolitan Shop. Our first full year in operation! We had many highs and a few bumps along the way. But all in all I'm striving to make this the premier site for African designers. A hub of creativity and insight into trends and culture. I've been pretty busy running the start-up but I want to dedicate more time to blogging and tweeting. So here goes!

I'm a fan of social fashion, I'll call it. When ordinary people show us their style and creativity by sharing photos or videos. A cool site for this is Lookbook.nu. Its a bit hipstery (ok very) but I still love the display of fashion from around the world. Make sure you check it out:

The Afropolitan Shop debut collection is finally here! I had an amazing time working with artisans and producers to get everything just right. I tried to incorporate current spring neon trends as well. I realized that African jewelry is inseparable from color. So this first offering is bright, bright, BRIGHT! I look forward to designing more creations from The Shop.
